Gold Seal Accreditation Awarded to SSMH by The Joint Commission

SSMH is pleased to announce it has once again earned The Joint Commission’s (TJC) Gold Seal of Approval® for hospital accreditation.

The three-year accreditation demonstrates SSMH’s continuous compliance with TJC’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals.

“On behalf of the ASNA board and administration, we are grateful to our staff for their ongoing work to deliver high quality health care to our region” said Marie Carroll, President/CEO of ASNA. ASNA, a tribal health nonprofit organization operates SSMH under a Title V compact with the Indian Health Service.

The unannounced on-site survey occurred on November 10 and 11, 2016. During the review, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. Surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

“This achievement is a team effort and is the result of everyone’s hard work. I am truly thankful to all of the staff here at Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital for helping us achieve the highest survey score we have ever received. Our entire organization should be proud of this accomplishment ” Richard Hall, SSMH Hospital Administrator said.

The Joint Commission’s hospital standards address important functions relating to the care of patients and the management of hospitals. The standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
