BIA Burial Assistance Program
We help families that are coping with the death of a loved one. In doing so, we uphold the traditional Iñupiat values of compassion, cooperation, and love and respect for one another. Eligibility for BIA Financial Assistance Service Programs is a secondary or residual resource and must not be used to supplement or supplant other programs.
ASNA is the BIA Burial Assistance contractor for select North Slope villages. Approved Burial Assistance payments are for minimal burial expenses on behalf of an eligible tribal member. This assistance is available only if there are no other resources. A relative of the deceased must submit the application to ASNA within 30 days of a person’s death.
